In fact, many people believe that you can sell practically anything if you market yourself well. Have you ever heard people saying “it’s all down to good marketing?”
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to design a product or service that is easily marketable? In other words, it is a product or service that people want to buy and is easy to sell. When you think about your skills as a business professional, what would you say are your marketable skills?'One of the funny things about the stock market is that every time one person buys, another sells, and both think they're astute.' William Feather It’s been a while since I wrote a post on English word partnerships, especially ‘collocations’. Collocation, what?In the financial world we often think of markets in terms of the stock/share market and that can be split between a bear market (when people are cautious about the future) or a bull market (where people feel optimistic of good growth). It’s all about the markets.
And finally, how much of that market can you realistically capture in the near future? (That’s SOM—Serviceable Obtainable Market.) Let’s say you’re launching a new food delivery app. The TAM might be the entire global food delivery industry, which is worth around $150 billion.
Your SAM could be just the market for food delivery in urban areas of the U.S., narrowing it down to roughly $30 billion. But if you’re a startup operating only in New York City, your SOM might be a more realistic slice, say $500 million based on local demand and competition. For investors, SOM market share demonstrates that you understand the difference between potential and reality. For your internal team, it sets practical sales targets and milestones. If your SOM is, say, $10 million and you can capture 2% in the first year, that’s a $200,000 revenue goal; clear, measurable, and grounded in data. When it comes to market size for funding, it’s easy to make mistakes that can throw off your business plans or make you look unprepared in front of investors. Here are some common mistakes people make and how you can avoid them: It’s tempting to think your product could serve everyone, but overestimating your TAM can lead to unrealistic expectations. Saying, “This product is for everyone” might sound exciting, but it’s rarely true.Top-Down Approach: Look at industry reports or market research data. For example, if you’re selling fitness trackers, find out the global market size for wearable tech, say it’s $50 billion.

Say's Law of Markets was developed by the French classical economist and journalist, Jean-Baptiste Say. Say was influential because his theories addressed how a society creates wealth and the nature of economic activity. To have the means to buy, a buyer must first have sold something, Say reasoned.Say's Law ran counter to the mercantilist view that money is the source of wealth. Under Say's Law, money functions solely as a medium to exchange the value of previously produced goods for new goods as they are produced and brought to market. In turn, by their sale, they produce money income that fuels demand to subsequently purchase other goods in an ongoing process of production and indirect exchange. However, he pointed out that the scarcity of some goods and glut of others can persist when the breakdown in production is perpetuated by ongoing natural disaster or government interference. Say's Law, therefore, supports the view that governments should not interfere with the free market and should adopt laissez-faire economics.Good economic policy should consist of encouraging industry and productive activity in general, while leaving the specific direction of which goods to produce and how up to investors, entrepreneurs, and workers in accord with market incentives. Say's Law thus contradicted the popular mercantilist view that money is the source of wealth, that the economic interests of industries and countries are in conflict with one another, and that imports are harmful to an economy.

Las Vegas real estate experts say new data represents a market stabilization.
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas real estate experts say new data showing softening house, condo and townhome sales in the valley represents a market stabilization that will benefit buyers, but result in longer timelines and fewer bidding wars for sellers.A release from Las Vegas Realtors indicates a housing market that is settling, but not rising. Single-family homes settled at a median price of $480,000, just below the all-time high set earlier in 2025 of $485,000. The August figure represents a 0.7% increase from the same time in 2024.Sellers are finding their homes sitting on the market for longer, with more properties taking more than 61 days to sell.“Home prices here in Southern Nevada haven’t moved much this year,” said George Kypreos, president of Las Vegas Realtors. “Besides having more homes on the market to choose from, buyers should also be pleased to see mortgage interest rates going down this month.”

He said even comparing it to Colorado’s Front Range isn’t accurate.Real estate agent Dana Cottrell said it could be a result of the flat and balanced market summer 2025 brought.

Once buyers conceptually digest that they’ve got more leverage than sellers hope they would, they will also realize that this could be the last fleeting moment of “real value” before the market accelerates away from them. So, let’s get ahead of it and go shopping! And Remember, I always say: 1) Anyone interested in buying or selling, should be rolling up their sleeves to determine whether the time is right to sell or if there’s a home/investment property out there for them; and 2) Who represents you matters…your best investment is often in the broker you choose; find someone with experience, who you feel you can trust. Is everyone waiting for 2026? Or will some (perhaps the savvy) choose to wade in ahead of it all. WithWho represents you matters…your best investment is often in the broker you choose. (Sponsored)The Fed only controls short-term rates, the financial markets determine the longer term rates. If investors don’t believe that a rate drop by the Fed is justified (in this case because of tariffs and inflation risk), the markets will do their work to compensate for that.
When examining the results, make sure you’re conservative. It’s common for people to say one thing but do another, so even if they’ve said they’re interested, they might not actually buy the product. The formula below can help you calculate market size:
Number of target users x purchases expected in a given period = market size or volume ... To give you an example of how these calculations work, let’s say you’re selling toothpaste for people with sensitive teeth. You estimate people will get through one tube every three months which means they buy four over a period of 12 months.Let’s say you have 500,000 target customers. That means: 500,000 (number of target users) x 4 (purchases expected over 12 months) = 2 million a year. This means your market volume is 2 million a year.If you’re thinking about launching a business or product, doing research and assessing how many potential customers you might attract is crucial.Next, you’ll need to conduct some wider market research to find out as much as possible about your chosen industry. Look for available data from sources such as Census data, industry reports and government whitepapers.

Darknet giant Abacus Market has gone offline due to a likely exit scam, according to TRM Labs
Infosecurity Magazine Home » News » Abacus Market Shutters After Exit Scam, Say ExpertsIt’s possible that Abacus went offline due to law enforcement activity, although there’s been no word yet from any such authorities. More likely, suggested TRM Labs, is that Vitro saw what happened to previous market leader Archetyp, and decided to cut and run before Abacus also drew the scrutiny of police and prosecutors.Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs said that users of Abacus Market began reporting withdrawal issues in late June.Although the administrator of the site, known as “Vitro,” blamed the issues on a DDoS attack, and an influx of users from another marketplace known as Archetyp, Abacus users remained skeptical.
